Doug Bollinger for Chennai Super Kings
Doug Bollinger, the Australian fast bowler, has been drafted in by Chennai Super Kings as a replacement for the injured Jacob Oram, who was ruled out of the 2010 season of the IPL. Bollinger will join the team on April 5.
Sundar Raman, the IPL's chief executive, had confirmed the news on his Twitter page: "Doug Bollinger to debut for CSK, replaces injured Jacob Oram who is out for the entire series." Bollinger's inclusion will bolster Chennai's bowling attack, which sorely lacked a genuine strike bowler during a disappointing start to their campaign.
Oram suffered a patella tendon tear shortly after New Zealand's home series against Australia began and was advised rest for up to a month. His participation in the IPL was in doubt, but the franchise chose to wait before taking a final call on his replacement.
Bollinger, who came in to the Australian Test side in January 2009, has emerged as one of the team's best strike bowlers in the last year. He had an outstanding 2009-10 home season, taking 25 wickets in five Tests, against West Indies and Pakistan. He also took 15 wickets in eight ODIs against the two teams and began the Test series in New Zealand with a five-for in Wellington.

Damien Martyn dumped out of IPL
Former Australian batsman Damien Martyn has been dropped from a prunedRajasthan Royals squad after playing only a match in the Indian Premier League’s third edition.
Martyn, who along with Adam Voges was the onlyAustralian to be picked in the January auction, was bought at the behest of his friend and RajasthanRoyals skipper Shane Warne.
‘By the time you read this, I’ll be heading home,’ Martyn wrote on his blog. ‘The Rajasthan Royals squad has been trimmed to 19 players and it looks like all-rounder Shane Watson might join us next week. That’s the nature of professional cricket and I knew from the start what my role in the squad was and how this might happen.’
Martyn scored only 19 in his match against Royal Challengers Bangalore before being dropped for the next two games.
‘I enjoyed my IPL debut last week — and even though it wasn’t the best result (19 off 24 balls) — it’s ironic that ever I was to play it had to be against the best bowler in the world… Dale Steyn, bowling 155kmph.’
Martyn also hinted at taking up coaching. ‘I have enjoyed my time as a player but looking forward to new roles around the group, like all past players, getting my notebook out, sitting in the dugout and scribbling away.’
